On the 20th anniversary of September 11th we are proud to honor the brave men and women of our local Gold Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
Gold Beach Fire has a total of 23 active men and women. Members total in excess of 8000 man/woman hours annually between calls, practices, and training.
Wildland fires pose the biggest risk to our town and surrounding communities. GBFD been making attempts to increase their wildland fire capabilities over the last 5 years with limited resources.
Their statistics speak for themselves:
2016, Aug 31st, 106 calls, .436 calls per day (cpd)
2018, Aug 31st, 148 calls, .609 cpd, 39.67% increase
2020, Aug 31st, 165 calls, .68 cpd, 11.65% increase
2021, Aug 31st, 301 calls, 1.23 cpd, 80.88% increase
Between August 31st of 2016 and August 31st of this year calls have increased by almost 200%
Being able to respond to these calls is only possible because of our neighbors, friends, and family members who selflessly volunteer to keep our community safe.
They are always there to answer our calls. Now is the time to show how grateful we are and support to ensure every member of the team has the needed equipment to stay safe while protecting our community.
We will be holding a 9/11 memorial presentation and 50/50 raffle drawing at 4:30. Please come out and show your support!
