It’s looking and sounding a lot like Christmas during the Downtown Brookings Second Saturday Art Walk from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 11.
New to the festivities this month is Kim’s Garden Party, a new business at 301 Oak St., across from Stout Park and Manley Art Center. The business – owned by Kim Devine, who once operated Centre Stage, a music venue on Chetco Avenue – features the work of Sharon Christmas, who created the mural inside the building, and Christmas tree decorations by Claire Willard. On center stage will be musicians Billie Ruth Furuichi, Don Beckner and Don Gilbert providing entertainment in three time slots. For more information about Kim’s Garden Party, call 541-251-3952.
Note that Manley Art Center does not have a display this month and will not be participating in this month’s Art Walk.
Brian Scott Gallery is getting into the holiday spirit by presenting "Winter Wonderland,” an annual show featuring all of the artists who grace the gallery throughout the year. The art includes jewelry, pottery, totes, sculpture and cards and, of course, oils, acrylics and watercolors. Music is provided by Shirley Hyatt and Patty Anne D'Cunha, also know as "The Christmas Belles.” The gallery, at 515 Chetco Ave., offers three floors of art displays and includes Signatures, a gallery within the gallery, on the main floor. For more information about the galleries, visit brianscottgallery.com or call 541-412-8687.
Festivities continue at Ambiance by the Sea where the show theme is Coastal Holiday with art by Linda Evans, a landscape and seascape painter. Holiday music will be performed. The venue is at 530 Hemlock St. For more information, call 541-254-4097.
At Semi Aquatic Gallery the art of Diana and Tom Stein will be featured. Diana creates art from copper and Tom creates handmade cigar-box guitars. Musical entertainment will be performed by Lon Goddard. The venue is at 654 Chetco Ave, and owner Spencer Reynolds also displays his art. The gallery features prints, cards, and clothing, as well as, a curated collection of hand-crafted and locally-made gifts and home goods. For more information about Semi Aquatic, visit artandsurf.com or call 503-451-3775.
Whimsical Griffin continues to show the paintings of Lorrie Brooks, 8-bit tile art by Dave Christie, also known as “The Working Mouse, and celebrity portraiture by shop owner Vincent Chiantelli. The shop, at 615 Chetco Ave., offers science-fiction fantasy art and gifts. For information about Whimsical Griffin, visit whimsicalgriffin.com.
Saturday’s Art Walk is the final for the season. The monthly event will take a winter hiatus and then return in April with more venues. At least one venue, which has been absent for two years, is planning to return to display art on its walls.
