Brookings, Oregon offers a range of attractions and events that will entertain, excite, and relax you from fishing the Pacific Ocean or one of our amazing wild rivers, crabbing, whale watching, kayaking, surfing, or finding treasures on the sandy beaches, exploring tidepools, hiking our beautiful hills and mountains into the Kalmiopsis Forest, taking in a movie, shopping, visiting an art gallery with extraordinary works of art, learning more about the history at the museum, stopping by Oregon’s largest Monterey Cypress Tree, attending an Art Walk, Artisan Market, 26th Annual Home Show, the 76th Annual Azalea Festival, amazing 4th of July Fireworks Show, 23rd Annual Southern Oregon Kite Festival, Arts Festival in Stout Park, Pirates Of The Pacific Festival, Slam’n Salmon Fishing Derby, or Nature’s Coastal Holiday light show with over half a million lights on display in Azalea Park.  You will find something memorable each time you visit Brookings, Oregon.

January

Whale Watching is a year-round activity.  You can spot whales from land with your naked eye and focus more closely with binoculars, charter a boat, or spot them from the air by plane or helicopter. Common areas are Cape Ferrelo and Harris Beach.

Port of Brookings Harbor Crab Festival includes an afternoon of music, crab races, chowder cook-off, dinner and fun.
Business Outlook Conference provides area businesses an insight to business economics with highly anticipated speakers, current and relevant topics to help prepare businesses for the new year.

March

Home & Garden Show annual event has been in full force for over 25 years and is commonly scheduled for Spring Break, located at the Kalimiopsis Elementary School.

May

Artisan Market with produce, food and crafts offered by local farmers, family businesses and artisans, every Saturday morning from the end of May through mid-October (at  the Port of Brookings Harbor).  The outdoor market features over 40 vendors from the coast and nearby Rogue Valley. Local musicians add to the festival atmosphere. No animal policy except for service animals.

Azalea Festival  has been an annual community wide event for over 75 years.  The highly anticipated parade draws crowds to Chetco Ave, the Street Fair & Kids Carnival located at the corner of 5th Street and Chetco Ave, Party at the Port in Harbor, Curry County Cruisers Car Show, Quilt Show, Art Show, and many more collaborative events keep the weekend alive with music, food, and fun every Memorial Day Weekend.

June

Wild Rogue Relay finale at the Azalea Park in Brookings in June.  Over 1,000 relay runners complete their 213 miles and celebrate their journey overnight at the park.

July

4th Of July Fireworks show over Sportshaven Beach, Bluegrass on the Boardwalk, Funky Foot Race, Kids Boardwalk Dash, vendors, and a spectacular fireworks show to finish the wonderful celebration in Brookings Harbor.

Community Chili Cook-Off with over 15 years of competitive chili cook-off at Slugs ‘N Stones ‘N Ice Cream Cones located at the Port of Brookings harbor.

Southern Oregon Kite Festival offers a brilliant display of national and international kite pilots and makers performing and displaying their creations for locals and tourists to enjoy.  There is not fee for this exciting annual event, free parking, shuttle available, kids kite making station, delicious food, gifts and crafts, kite demonstrations, kite auction; the fun is endless.  Plan your trip for the 3rd weekend in July and take home a memorable experience.

August

Art Festival is situated in the lovely park setting of Stout Park next to Manley Art Center, one block off Chetco Avenue on Oak Street in Brookings.  A juried show of original art and handcrafted items, Plein air artists at work, activities for children, food court, and music in August each year.

Pirates of the Pacific Festival located on the Boardwalk in Brookings Harbor in August each year with re-enactors providing cannon fire and sword play, magicians, jugglers, children’s events, vendors, music, and more.

Slam’n Salmon Ocean Derby annual ocean fishing derby each Labor Day weekend brings hundreds of fishermen to Brookings Harbor to win the cash prize of $10,000.  A weekend of ocean fishing, shopping the area, vendors and music, and a delicious barbeque.

September

Raining Cats and Dogs is an exciting event of chance where locals and visitors buy a ticket with a number and have a chance to win thousands.  Bins of numbered rubber cats and dogs are dropped onto a large target on the ground from a helicopter.  The cat or dog closest to the center with the number wins.  Crowds watch and cheer as the winner is identified.  Food, entertainment, and information booths will keep you busy while you anxiously await the results.  In September each year.

December

Nature’s Coastal Holiday Light Show attracts thousands of people from around the Northwest to the Brookings Azalea Park.  Azalea Park is transformed into a Holiday Wonderland with over 500,000 lights and sculptures open nightly from 5pm-9pm after Thanksgiving through Christmas.
